The head of the Heavy Putter has a standard weight of 475 Grams,which includes the stainless steel “tip weights” (the cylinder shapedinserts) that come installed in the putter head
- The tip weight kitincludes aluminum tip weights which reduce the putter head weight to450 grams, and copper tungsten tip weights which raise the putterhead weight to 500 grams. HOW HEAVY IS A CONVENTIONAL PUTTER HEAD? Most putter heads weigh approximately 300-350 grams. WHAT IS THE OVERALL WEIGHT OF THE HEAVY PUTTER? The overall weight is approximately 900 grams (about 2 lbs.)

- It is also a fact that stroking a heavier objectnaturally engages those larger muscles and discourages the use of thefingers, hands and wrists
- Therefore, a heavier putter promotes moreconsistency by naturally eliminating the hands and wrists from thestroke
- It is a simple principle of biomechanics that makes perfectsense. ISN'T A HEAVIER PUTTER MORE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL? If a heavier putter concentrated all of the additional weight in thehead alone, then it most certainly would be more difficult to control,not unlike a bowling ball on the end of a string
- However, the HeavyPutter counterbalances the weight in the head by adding additionalweight inserted in the grip end of the shaft, raising the balancepoint of the putter 75% higher than conventional putters, therebyreturning complete control to the golfer while still removing thehands and wrists from the putting stroke. WHAT IS THE "BALANCE POINT"? If you were to lay a putter across your index finger, the balancepoint is the location on the shaft where there is equal weight oneither side
- Balance point is important because its locationinfluences how a golfer strokes the putter
- The perfect balancepoint is the point at which a pendulum motion most naturally occurs
- For the Heavy Putter, this point is between one third and one half theway up the club from the head
- This balance point is actually 75%higher than all leading putters on the market, which is why the HeavyPutter does not “feel” heavy when it is put into play
- The HeavyPutter’s higher balance point brings the center of gravity of theputter closer to your center of gravity, around your belt buckle.This reduces the forces applied to your hands and wrists andincreases the stability of the putter throughout the stroke
- Forexample, it would be pretty hard to walk around carrying a bag ofgroceries with your arms outstretched – you would constantly befighting the weight and getting knocked off balance
- In contrast, ifyou held the bag close to your body, it would be much easier tomanage the weight and control your movements. WHAT CAN BE GAINED FROM CHANGING THE WEIGHTS IN THE HEAD? The putter comes equipped with stainless steel “tip weights” thatcomprise a portion of the 475 gram head weight
- The “tip weight kit”(which is included at no additional cost) includes two additional setsof tip weights
- One set is made of aluminum and is lighter than theinstalled stainless steel set, and one is made of copper/tungsten,and is heavier than the installed stainless steel weights
- Thealuminum and copper/tungsten reduce/raise the weight of the putter byapproximately 25 grams (Aluminum Weights make the head weigh 450grams; Copper/Tungsten weights make the head weigh 500 grams)
- Theallen wrench and screws are included in the tip weight kit, so noadditional tools or hardware is needed
- Each golfer has a distinctgrip pressure and release point
- Golfers who tend to have a laterelease point or resist release through impact can often benefit froma lower balance point
- This is true because the lower balance pointwill compensate for the “late release,” and more naturally square theface of the putter at impact
- The way to lower the balance point isto add weight to the head
- Conversely, a golfer who tends to releaseearly, may want to reduce the head weight to raise the balance pointand slow down the release of the putter head
- The easiest way todetermine if you need to adjust the head weight (i.e
- if you tend torelease early or late) is by noting the tendency of your missedputts
- If you consistently miss right, then you may be releasing toolate, and may want to increase the head weight to accelerate therelease point
